Tin vs. Cardboard

I'm planning to start an online business and naturally want it to be as eco friendly as possible. That of course means avoiding plastic containers. The most practical alternatives are cardboard or tin.

Cardboard is of course biodegradable, but I'm concerned about the effects on natural forestation, old forests being cleared and made into tree farms. Tin can be recycled but not of people may or may not choose to. More important, the mining process can devastating.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Cardboard isnt that bad.  You can get it recycled and reuse boxes.  Depends what the item is really that youre packaging.  For example if its jewelry ship it in a case that can be used to store that jewlry in.  You also have to think of your botyom line or youll go broke.   People do love helping the environment but they will draw the line at cost.
